Few more words on the coming trends and what am I going to try myself ?

As I have mentioned in my previous post on the subject (available here) I am not huge on fashion trends… I like to mix things now and again but I have staples in my closet that I will be wearing regardless of their fashion status.

Coming out of my comfort zone is something that I have to work on but trying new trends and reflecting on what I truly love can be beneficial. This season I decided to take it to a next level and have challenged myself to find as many items as possible that I already have in my wardrobe that are good example of coming trends and mix them with the new stuff.

Being comfortable with your clothes, looking after them and buying quality items is proving to be working for me. I cannot imagine changing my entire closet every couple of seasons for both financial and environmental reasons. Quality over quantity, natural fabrics and attention to details that is all what I want to stand for…

Having said all of this, I have done a video of everything I would like to try for the coming seasons and I would love for you to check it out !

Let me know if I missed anything and what are you personal favourites ?

That you so much for stopping by and following my journey !

What I wore Sunday… warmer days

In anticipation for warmer days I have been making a list of all the outfits I would like to wear this Spring. I do not plan what I am going to wear religiously but writing this list helped me to prioritize and keep my shopping cravings at bay.

The outfit I am showing you today was number one on the list. It is very simple, nothing groundbreaking but it incorporates one of my favourite trends for this season… check ! Checked trousers, skirts, blazers or coats are everywhere this Spring and as they hardly ever go out of fashion they are worth investing in !

The rest of the outfit is very me- leather jacket, comfortable yet statement shoes and a classic red lipstick. I love putting things that do not belong together like office appropriate trousers and biker jacket and make them work to make me feel comfortable.

I cannot wait show you some more of the outfits of the list but until then that is what I wore Sunday !

What I wore Sunday… in a search for a perfect camel coat

I do not impulse shop… I am tempted to buy things that I like and seen for a very first time now and again but every bigger purchase is always well-thought through.

I have a list of items that I need to add to my closet the changes as the time passes. It will consist of very classic pieces that I am allowed to buy should I encounter the right one. It maybe anything from a classic black belt with silver hardware, pair of nude espadrilles to the perfect camel coat…

When I saw the coat I am showing you today, I knew I have to get it… It is a perfect fit, the quality of the fabric is exceptional and it was a complete bargain as well ! I styled it with my favourite pair of jeans and a grey knit as well as a warm scarf that was very needed on this cold day.

To finish off the outfit I added a pair of well-used brogues and tan-coloured handbag that makes the coat stand out and blends nicely with the rest…

That is what I wore (on a very cold) March Sunday !!

Designer handbags shopping rules and five starter bags

Starting your designer handbag collection can be daunting. There are so many to choose from that is very easy to get lost in all of this and buy something just for the sake of buying with little resell value or even more importantly little use.

I would lie if I said that all of my bags were well thought through and researched but somehow I have managed to stay true to my style and avoid big mistakes. Not everything that I have bought would stand the test of time, however all in all I am quite happy with my collection !

So having all this in mind, I decided to put together five golden rules when it comes to bags together with my recommendations for best starter bags with the biggest resell value in the future… I have already put a comprehensive post detailing dos and don’ts when it comes to designer handbags so if you interested go and check it out here !

Let’s begin…

  • Start small

I would not start buying into designer handbags with the most expensive Chanel flap or even more pricy Hermes. Learning what you really like and what not will take some time so test the water before you jump in !

  • Do your research

Research is truly a key to successful purchase ! Impulse buying when it comes to luxury, can be very costly… Find the style you like but be practical and think about different situation in your life and occasions you would want to use your new accessory.

  • Do not compromise

Sometimes when you have been saving for a particular bag that feels out-of-reach, it is easy to settle and buy something cheaper instead. Speaking from experience I would say do not do that as soon or later you will end up going to your original choice (I promise !).

  • Quality over quantity

It is always better to have couple of good quality, functional handbags than half a dozen of cheap and tacky ones. Invest in neutral colours and the ones you will be able to style day and night !

  • Classic is the way forward

As mentioned before classic colours and models will stand the test of time. Bright colours and stand out prints may not be the best of choices. Classics will also have much better resell value should you decide to let them go in the future !

Now with some examples… I decided to suggest five handbags that in my opinion will make an excellent first (or even tenth) investment handbag. Please take my examples with a pinch of salt as my view and lifestyle maybe different to yours and what I like may not be to your taste…

In no particular order…

What I wore Sunday… rainy days

The last few weeks weather in UK has been a constant unknown… One day it would be raining, the other it would be snowing. The unpredictability of these conditions makes the whole country to stop and a very difficult task to take any pictures for my outfit diaries…

The ones seen today were taken on a very foggy Sunday morning so apologies in advance  for lack of sunshine and lighter clothing. The combination shown in here is nothing new as I already worn most of the items individually.

Although more autumn appropriate, I could not resist to style this military style coat yet again (previous attempts can be found here and here). This time I paired with very unusual for me jumper and pencil leather skirt which over the last few months became a real staple in my wardrobe.

I love how this warm combination of colours goes with my red lipstick and my slightly darker then usual hair colour. I enjoy trying new things and today’s post is a result of this !

That is what I wore on a very foggy Sunday…

What I wore Sunday… my perfect weekend

Taking pictures for What I wore Sunday become a tradition in my household quite some time ago. Some Sundays documenting the outfit in a nearby location will take ten minutes, some if we travel would go on for a very long time. What they have all in common is the time me and my husband spent together.

Working full-time in completely different environments as well as activities outside of work keep us both very occupied. Spending time together and finding interest in each other’s life is something that can be very fragile. Pictures represent the memories and that is why I look forward to the next Sunday.

As for the outfit of the day, I went very casual and wore a very old trench coat which is just perfect for coming season. Trench coats are huge at the minute and I love this trend a lot (more on the coming trends available here). The rests of the outfit are staples in my closet: LV Neverfull bag and a pair of white Converse sneakers which are just a must for me. The whole look is simple and comfortable exactly how I like to dress.

That is what I wore this very Spring like Sunday !!
