My love of traveling and discovering new and undiscovered is huge… As a result, once a year we try to go far away to the country we have not been to before. This year the country of choice is Sri Lanka. Full of contrasts, with difficult past, poverty mixing with luxury it is a very interesting place. Beautiful beaches, amazing wildlife within national parks, noisy streets and people who make this country are only few things definitely worth discovering… But more on that in the coming weeks !
For this very causal day, I went all white with a touch of black. I bought this beautiful dress, quite some time ago (on sale) but if felt too special for everyday use and I waited for the right time to wear it. The detail and the lace is on it, is truly special and I know it is timeless enough that I will be able to wear it in five or ten years time.
I pair it with my favourite pair of sandals and a Sensi Studio hat that you may have already seen here and here. These accessories are such a good quality items and in my opinion go with this outfit very well. Sir Lanka weather is hot and humid and the sun is very strong so wearing a hat is a must for me !
Without further delay that is what I wore Sunday (Sri Lanka style…) !
This post will be quite different to my usual routine but I feel like need to address it and get it out of my chest. Quite recently I have heard the comment about myself and my shopping habits. It was not anything nasty or unpleasant but it made me reflect and I think it is good time to share it with you !
I started my blog and social media journey in order to share and maybe inspire, never to show off. I never buy anything just to take a picture and then give it away or sell… I have been interested in fashion in particular for as long as I can remember. When I was growing up, wanting or pursuing job in fashion industry would be considered risky or irresponsible to say the least. As a result, I have chosen a different career which as much as I love, it does not satisfy all my ambitions.
I do my weekly outfits post to show you guys, how I dress, what I like to wear and where I am investing in. I hope that checking my blog, Instagram account and YouTube channel will spark the joy within you, make you smile and maybe inspire to try something new or different that you have not tried before.
I like my closet big in order to allow me to shop around in my own wardrobe. I love recycling and looking after my belongings. Some items you will see over and over again here as they are true staples in my mind.
Coming out of my comfort zone is something I like to try from time to time in order to experiment and push the boundaries if that makes any sense.
So, I would love to hear from you… Do you find fashion blogs and Instagram accounts useful and enjoyable or self-centred and pushy ?
As I am trying to start a discussion, I am allowing all the comments without the need to leave your email address and all the usual details that are sometimes too time consuming to be bothered !
As you may know I have spent the last week in Italy. It was a dream come true for me as I only visited Italy once in my life a very long time ago… I enjoyed every minute of my Italian adventure and I promise to share more of that on my blog in the coming weeks.
Today I am taking you to Siena which is the place I have not visited before but I would highly recommended. It has unbelievable charm and very relaxed vibe with the fan-shaped square Piazza del Campo in the middle of it all that offers spectacular views of this medieval town. Every corner is just picture perfect and every building is decorated with beautiful and colourful doors and shutters. Piazza del Campo itself is considered one of the greatest medieval squares in the whole Europe !
I am not going to lie it was a very hot day. That was one of the reason why I decided to wear white dress and a hat which was a pretty accessory but most importantly it protected me from the immense heat and sun. This dress seemed to me like a perfect choice for sightseeing. It is smart but very comfortable. I got it in Reiss in York Outlet about two years ago and I wore it the day after my wedding. It has a huge sentimental value for me so I hope you will like it too !!
Siena has so much charm and beauty that and I really hope that I will be able to go back there one day in the very near future.
Be my guest and enjoy this truly spectacular Italian city !!
The idea for this post came to me when I popped to my local Zara for some last-minute shopping. As the sales are in full swing the amount of clothing everywhere really made me think… How much is too much and do we really need half of the things we buy ?
I am as guilty in the whole process as most of the population but maybe there is something we can do to stop wasting money, damage the environment and reduce the wastage so common in the fashion industry ?
I love shopping but I also like quality items and looking after my stuff. I would happily buy one thing that is going to last me ages that five that will get damage after first wash. The idea of throwing away things I bought with my hard-earned cash is something I cannot agree with… Also the amount of items we buy or we are made to feel we need to buy via social media is really overwhelming. We all need cloths and beauty products but the amount presented in those sources is insane…
I like to have different options available in my closet but I try not to lose my head in all this. So that is what my advice would be !
Look after your possessions, be proud of what you have and that will pay off !
When looking for a new item to add to your wardrobe think about the rest of the outfit, do you have something else to pair it with ?
Shop in your closet and recycle. One item can serve so may occasions… and some examples below…
I have been desperately looking for a metallic, pleated skirt in dirty silver colour. As I could not find anything exactly to my taste on a reasonable budget and as I was not prepared to spend my holiday allowance on thisskirtI had to make some compromises. When I saw this one in the beautiful, deep green colour I knew this is the one… I have not seen anything like this before and I hope to make a staple in my wardrobe !
I have pair this skirt with my current favourite denim skirt and my must have flats and handbag. The combination maybe something I have not tried before but I felt really good wearing it and I think it works.
We have found this warehouses on the outskirts of Sheffield. I have discovered them some time ago when trying to find my way home and I truly loved this setting.
So without further delay that is what I wore Sunday !
When I wrote my first blog post, I had no idea if anyone will read it or be interested in what I want to show you. It took a few weeks but after my Bangkok post I have realised that same of my fellow bloggers are checking what I have posted !
I have mentioned before that nothing gives me as much pleasure as knowing that a new reader checked out my website especially from a new to me country or place I have never been to. No words can describe the satisfaction you get from the kindness and encouragement from your readers and followers. As a lot of my friends have been asking how is it going with the development of my blog I thought I will let you know !
I post three two to times a week: Sunday, Wednesday and Friday/Saturday
I have started my blog adventure 11th February 2017 and this is my 51st blog post
Since the beginning of this blog I had over 5450 views and over 2100 viewers, with April being my busiest month (total of 1723 views)
The countries with the most views will come as no surprise and include United Kingdom, Poland (my home country), USA, Germany and India
The most surprising views for me came from South Korea, Brunei, Trinidad & Tobago, Pakistan and Argentina…
The most popular time for viewing my blog is Sunday at 7 pm (!)
I am normally one to two Sundays ahead with the pictures and lately I have been giving my followers a sneak preview of what is yet to come on my Instagram so if you are interested go and check it out xx
I am so surprised with myself how much I love blogging and expressing myself this way. I have all the intention to continue and deliver even more posts with better content and take more interesting pictures as the time progresses.
I want to say massive thank you to everybody who supported me so far, to all my colleagues and fellow bloggers that have been commenting and liking what I have been posting especially to Anil M.and Matt !!
I am not a romantic person and my idea of the date night is staying at home and watching House of Cards with a cup of earl grey. However, from time to time it is nice to make an effort and dress in a more feminine way. I had a pleasure of staying overnight in Lincoln this weekend as a part of a treasure hunt (I will keep You updated on that..) and we decided to spend the evening in town.
I tried to keep my romantic spirit going by putting on this dress but wanted to add a twist with a military style coat. The dress is my newest purchase from Topshop– very delicate piece that will see You through the wedding season as well as those special occasions date nights.. The coat is a real treasure from Zara that looks like a million dollars, worth every penny I paid for it..
My shoes and handbag have been staple pieces in my wardrobe for some time. I got my handbag as a wedding gift from my awesome husband and shoes were the sale purchase. By creating this look I wanted to prove that high street has as much to offer as designers. The pieces can be equally beautiful and well-made. What matters is the quality of the material and how versatile they are.
I hope You will like what I put together.. please let me know !!
All the pictures are courtesy of my lovely husband.
