My five autumn essentials

I have spoken about the trends for Autumn-Winter 2017/2018 already and I thought it will be a good idea to share my top picks for this season and things I love and enjoy wearing in the colder months.

They are not trend lead, more lifestyle and weather oriented pieces that I think everybody needs in their closet. The styles and colours shown here are my own preferences and I understand that yours may be different…

  • Good leather jacket

I am huge on biker style jackets, the fabric and cut does not really matter. They have to be nicely finish and fit you style and personality.

I like to splurge on the quality jacket as it is an investment that will keep on giving. But remember to look after you biker especially if it is in brushed leather or suede ! Clean it professionally and use suede protector to prevent the damage and slow down wear and tear.

  • Classic coat

I like a good coat and would risk a statement that I try to add a new one every colder season. If you can afford to spend a small fortune MaxMara or Joseph is as good as the coat can get. However, there are a lot of more affordable versions available on high street with Zara and Topshop being on the top of my personal list.

The brand and price do not guarantee the quality. What matters most is the fabric and the attention to details, the buttons and whether the coat is cut properly.

  • Knitwear to die for

In colder months, I love the layers and the comfort and luxury of quality knitwear. Wool and cashmere would be my preference as they are natural fabric that allow your skin to breathe and are in general more environmental friendly.

My first choice for knitwear would be & Other Stories. Their prices are reasonable and the quality of the fabric used is second to none. For more of a splurge head to Joseph. Pricy but their pieces will blow you away !

  • Layering pieces

Blouses, shirts and anything else you may wear under a blazer or jumper. Again the quality over quantity is the key for me.

I have few blouses and shirts that I keep recycling and wear over and over again under something else. My absolute favourite shirt is from Zara and if I am not mistaken I bought it over 8 years ago. I love it so much that the minute it is out of wash I will wear it again !

& Other Stories

  • Favourite pair of boots

I cannot do autumn essentials without mentioning my favourite pair of over-the-knee boots. They are by far the most expensive pair I have ever bought but without any hesitation I can confirm that they are worth it.

Over-the-knee boots are not for everyone and maybe biker boots are more your style ? I have a pair of beautiful grey boots that I will be thrilled to share with you in the coming weeks. Whatever the choice is, make sure you look after them properly especially if they are suede.

What I wore Sunday… one day in Sri Lanka

My love of traveling and discovering new and undiscovered is huge… As a result, once a year we try to go far away to the country we have not been to before. This year the country of choice is Sri Lanka. Full of contrasts, with difficult past, poverty mixing with luxury it is a very interesting place. Beautiful beaches, amazing wildlife within national parks, noisy streets and people who make this country are only few things definitely worth discovering… But more on that in the coming weeks !

For this very causal day, I went all white with a touch of black. I bought this beautiful dress, quite some time ago (on sale) but if felt too special for everyday use and I waited for the right time to wear it. The detail and the lace is on it, is truly special and I know it is timeless enough that I will be able to wear it in five or ten years time.

I pair it with my favourite pair of sandals and a Sensi Studio hat that you may have already seen here and here. These accessories are such a good quality items and in my opinion go with this outfit very well. Sir Lanka weather is hot and humid and the sun is very strong so wearing a hat is a must for me !

Without further delay that is what I wore Sunday (Sri Lanka style…) !

I feel like August was a good month for me. Not everything I set to achieve happened but that is what life is all about. Expecting unexpected is something that I always keep in mind !

What August has taught me is to stand my ground and believe in myself more. Self-confidence is something that I have to work on constantly with some days being better than the others but I think I am winning xx

Fashion-wise it was a very adventurous month. I made few purchases, some of which you may had a chance to see on the blog or my Instagram account.

My favourite new thing would have to be a pair of espadrilles from Castaner (first shown here). They are the most classic pair, exceptionally made and they will stay in my closet for a very long time !

Another thing worth mentioning is this Zara set, I got at the end of the month. I was eyeing this knit from the moment I first saw it but the shirt was a total surprise. I am not a huge fan of the prints, especially 70s inspired but somehow I could stop myself from trying it on. The end result is quite obvious on this picture !

Statistic-wise two most popular blog posts of last month would be from What I wore Sunday series Country life is never boring followed closely by Hollywood glamour. Interestingly, my personal favourite would be the end of the month for July. Looking back on the last thirty days, gives me sense of satisfaction and achievement.

I have also added an additional feature to my blog. It is called Shop my closet and you can find it in the main panel next to menu and contact links. I will try to list all my new finds as well as some timeless pieces from my wardrobe in case you are interested !!

Finally, I am really looking forward to September. The beginning of a new season as well as my wedding anniversary makes that month really special. I have one or two things planned that will come as a surprise so stay tuned for that !!

As usual thank you very much for stopping by and for all the interest and support xx

Hope to see you all soon,

What I wore Sunday… afternoon in York

Out of all the UK cities, I think I visit York the most. There are many reasons for that but if I was to pick one it would be due to its charm and beauty. I love the tiny, cobbled streets and lots of boutique cafes and shops including my favourite brands like Kiehl’s, Jo Malone, Whistles or Mulberry.

We visited York during Bank Holiday weekend last week and it was full of people. The weather was fabulous and we decided to do exact opposite and rather than going into town, head to the canal and observe life from the distance. We had some luck as the sun came out and we managed to take these pictures, which are probably one of my favourites ever.

You may remember that I already wore this dress, quite some time ago when I was just starting my blogging adventure (check it out here). It is much more feminine and delicate that I would normally go for but somehow I like it like that. I pair it with my trusty bag that has been my favourite for some time now and really old espadrilles that I got in Spain about six years ago.

Without further delay that is what I wore that Sunday…

Social media and how not to judge the book by its cover…

This post will be quite different to my usual routine but I feel like need to address it and get it out of my chest. Quite recently I have heard the comment about myself and my shopping habits. It was not anything nasty or unpleasant but it made me reflect and I think it is good time to share it with you !

I started my blog and social media journey in order to share and maybe inspire, never to show off. I never buy anything just to take a picture and then give it away or sell… I have been interested in fashion in particular for as long as I can remember. When I was growing up, wanting or pursuing job in fashion industry would be considered risky or irresponsible to say the least. As a result, I have chosen a different career which as much as I love, it does not satisfy all my ambitions.

I do my weekly outfits post to show you guys, how I dress, what I like to wear and where I am investing in. I hope that checking my blog, Instagram account and YouTube channel will spark the joy within you, make you smile and maybe inspire to try something new or different that you have not tried before.

I like my closet big in order to allow me to shop around in my own wardrobe. I love recycling and looking after my belongings. Some items you will see over and over again here as they are true staples in my mind.

Coming out of my comfort zone is something I like to try from time to time in order to experiment and push the boundaries if that makes any sense.

So, I would love to hear from you… Do you find fashion blogs and Instagram accounts useful and enjoyable or self-centred and pushy ?

As I am trying to start a discussion, I am allowing all the comments without the need to leave your email address and all the usual details that are sometimes too time consuming to be bothered !

What do you think ?

What I wore Sunday… my life by the sea

Living by the sea or river is quite new thing for me. I have not lived by the big water when I was growing up and I remember that every summer holiday we would go to the seaside to experience the beach, swim in the really cold Baltic sea and try fresh fish which was never my cup of tea…

Living on the island means that you are never too far away from a beach. Although I do not go to one weekly and the water is far to cold to swim in, I could say without the shadow of the doubt that I love my surroundings. I hope to be able to show you more of my favourite spots in the area in the coming weeks or months !

I have chosen my outfit only by comfort factors for this lazy Sunday afternoon. We had absolutely nothing planned. Just a walk, popping for a drink or two and enjoying the day.  All of the items I was wearing have been in my closet for quite some time. Belstaff coated jeans are my long-time favourite and this simple yet unusual H&M blouse adds a little bit of put together yet relaxed vibe. The only pop of colour is my lipstick which every time I wear, I promise myself to do it more often as I like it so much.

So without further delay that is what I wore Sunday !!

June has gone so fast that I have not had a chance to stop and reflect… It is something that I like to do whenever I closed a chapter in my life. It maybe after the end of the month, year or after a significant change in my circumstances. I try to look at the positives and address everything that I should have done that I have not… so I do not feel like I am drowning…

Last month have been better for me that I have expected. There were so many things that I was worried about that in the end turned up to be not so scary after all !!

I have also made some new purchases for summer time and I will be more than thrilled to share them with you in the very near future !! As I am currently enjoying little get away, my biggest priority were summer accessories and clothing. These are just few examples of what came to my possession lately…

Newest Gianvito Rossi sandals I have got on sale with more than 50 % off !!

For the sizing reference they fit true to size, I am size 37.5-38 and all of Gianvito Rossi shoes I own or ever tried are size 38…

New Topshop shirt (still on sale, available in stores in the UK) and Sensi Studio hat (I got mine on sale but the one linked above is exact one but unfortunatelly slightly more expensive…)

Green pleated skirt that I have been loving lately… If you are interested in that outfit, all the details are available here xx

In regards to my blog I am very happy that my community is growing and new bloggers are checking out my website. I cannot express enough gratitude for all the likes and lovely comments. I really hope that this trend will continue as I have all the intentions to carry on…

The blog post with the most amount of views last month was Few words about self-confidence and the one that attracted most likes was Responsible fashion !!

As I have mentioned before I am currently travelling and I will be keeping you posted on what I have been up to… For now I can show you my home for the next few days and I cannot imagine anything else more picture perfect xx
