Shopping Christmas sales

With festive season fast approaching I thought it will be a good idea to write something about sales… They will traditionally start on the Boxing Day but nowadays more and more retailers offer them mid-December. I am all about buying quality without overpaying but shopping Christmas sales requires some preparations and forward thinking…

I have touched on this subject already (previous post available here) but as December sales are a little bit different that any other sale, I decided to list all the items worth hunting for as well as all the preparation stages I take in order to buy only things I really need and save myself some money…

My usual starting point would be to make a list. Planning ahead of what is missing in your closet, homeware, accessories etc. is crucial. The more specific the list the better. If you are interested in particular brands, list the retailers that stock them and add the appropriate links to your favourites. Regardless, if you prefer online shopping or traditional approach it would be my starting point.

The second step is to make the list smaller… Ask yourself three magic questions:

  • Do I want it ?
  • Do I need it ?
  • Can I effort it ?

Lately, I have added the fourth one that is more a rule that a question.

  • Can I buy it twice ?

It will be hard initial but the more I practice this approach the more conscious all of purchases are.

Step three is the most difficult in my opinion and consist of shopping but with ability to restrain myself from buying anything that is not on the list or not perfect. Sometimes I will see something that ‘will do’ but I know that I will end up going to my original item over and over again. So not settling for any thing than perfect is the key !

To prove that shopping sales can be a good idea I am going to include my five top purchases made during sales. All of the examples featured here are in my opinion good options to buy on sale as their initial price point will be higher but they hopefully deliver on quality of the finish and durability…

Swimsuit from Solid and Striped (bought during summer sale for 40 % off)

  • Handbags (this one can be tricky as classic designer models sporadically if ever go on sale, but worth exploring)

What I wore Sunday… evening in Italian village

Continuing my Italian adventure I wanted to show you the outfit I wore to dinner on the same day we visited Lucca and went to the seaside. If you are interested in that post more details and pictures are available here !!

I did not have much time to get ready so I decided to go for comfort and convenience. I picked this dress on sale from H&M and I truly cannot say enough good things about it. It fits better than it looks, the fabric feels very nice on the skin, it is a very flattering design and best of all it was only ÂŁ10 !! I believe the original price is around ÂŁ20 and in my opinion it is worth even more than that.

I styled it with my favourite par of heels at the minute. They are much more comfortable than they look and they add that special something to every outfit.

The restaurant we visited that evening was called Le Mura Del Cassero in Montevarchi. It is a truly modern Italian place, serving traditional dishes with a twist. The whole menu is in Italian so ordering food can be tricky if you do not speak the language !!

I hope you will like what I put together and if you are interested in what I have bought recently stay tuned as I have the haul video coming up on my channel very soon featuring this particular dress and many more items…

So that is what I wore Sunday !!

What I wore Sunday… Save the Bees

Some things are just meant to be and the cover picture is a result of that. When we decided to go out that day (my first encounter with Jamaican food !!) and take few pictures of my outfit I have no idea that we will come across this graffiti.

I had this Whistles dress (I call it bee dress) for about four or five years. I wore it to one or two occasions but as it is silk and quite dressy I never felt it was appropriate to wear. I am so glad that I took it out of my closet just to remind myself how much I love it. The material is beautiful and the print is so on point at the minute…

I have pair it with my staples- classic clutch bag and my newest obsession plexi pumps that I manage to get on absolute budget. More on that story available here.

I love to look through my wardrobe and recycle over and over again just to discover how much each of this purchases mean to me ! I would encourgae evrybody to buy quality things that you truly love as much as I love this dress.

So without further delay that is what I wore Sunday !

What I wore Sunday… made in Poland !

I had a pleasure of visiting my family in Poland two weeks ago. Although it was a very short stay I managed to spend some time with my parents and get few goodies from my favourite shops in my hometown. During one of the shopping trips, I visited Lukasz Jemiol boutique and made quite an impulsive purchase (sorry, no regrets here)…

Dressing up is something that I enjoy from time to time but I am not as glamorous on a daily basis. Today I wanted to show you the outfit I wore last Sunday in Leeds. When I saw this dress, I knew I have to get it. What attracted me, was the colour and the simplicity of the design. Statement heels and you do not need anything else to create an outfit ! I added quite a simple bag, first featured here.

This dress will be perfect for the coming season for all the weddings, christenings, birthdays etc. It comes in at least one more colour and it is available on Lukasz Jemiol website.

So that is what I have put together…

Current favourites

I have made some discoveries lately as I am testing and adding new things into my everyday life. I thought it would be a good idea to share them with You on more or less monthly basis. All of the products featured here have been tried and loved by me and to stay true to myself I will never recommended something I do not believe in… So without further delay that is what I have been loving lately…

  • Beauty

I have been trying out this hair wand for about two months now and I would say that it is the best one I have ever used ! When I used it the first few times I have burned my hands on number of occasions but after a little bit of practise I am no longer having that problem. The curls stay in all day and I do not feel my hair got any drier (my hairdresser Phillipa may disagree…).

As for the shampoo and conditioner Kerastase is a long favourite of mine. The brand is expensive but they products lasts long time and I do believe they are worth the money. The conditioner makes my hair very smooth and I love the smell too !

  • Fashion

I may have made a cheeky purchase lately but my activity must be justified by the discount I got. I have been wanting this Gianvito Rossi Plexi Pumps for as long as I can remember and when I saw a pair with a discount of over 50 % I could not resist ! The pair I bought is not pictured above as it is sold out due to the discount but I promise to share it with You very soon !

  • Technology

I received this mouse as a gift from my husband and it is seriously good. So interactive and responsive like no other I tried. It is on a pricy side but if You are like me and do not like using a mouse touchpad on Your laptop it is the one to go for !

  • Lifestyle

I have been obsessed with this balls ever since I first trying them ! They are protein snack with no preservatives, colourants or gluten. I like to grab one on a go. They are really tasty and high in protein, fibre and vitamin E. My favourite one is coconut & macadamia protein bliss closely followed by apple & cinnamon !

  • Best of all

I am not a foodie and I always try to look at nutritional value of my food over the taste… (I am boring and to self-discipline like this…). But the pancakes are my absolute favourite for Sunday breakfast. With fresh fruits and maple syrup or honey. Style of the pancakes does not matter, the more the better !

So that is what I have been loving and enjoying lately !

Let me know if I am missing on something worth trying ?

Many thanks for stopping by !
