Best luxury buys of 2017

My inability to compromise often gets me in trouble, especially when incomes to shopping. When I see something I really like, made out of incredible fabric with huge attention to detail, I find it incredibly difficult to substitute or leave behind.

Having said that I have to admit that majority of my more expensive buys is very well-thought through. I do not impulse buy much as I have huge respect towards mine and my husband’s hard work and everyday efforts. I like for my purchases to be of good quality but most importantly they must be needed and serving the purpose.

I had a good look at everything I bought in 2017 and have shortlisted all the pieces featured below as my best buys. Some are from premium high-street some from big designer labels but you have for sure seen them on this blog before.

So let’s begin…

Accessories:

  • Dior So Real Sunglasses (similar)

I love wearing sunglasses. They instantly elevate the whole look and add that special something to how I feel. These were on a pricy side but in my opinion are worth the money. I have been wearing them on repeat and planning on doing the same this year.

Panama style white hat is in my opinion a must in every wardrobe. I got mine at the end of June and have been loving it. As you may have noticed I like to wear a hat from time to time and this one is just perfect.

I got this scarf at the end of the year and although I have not featured it a great deal on this blog, I promised you that I have been wearing it all the time. It is of exceptional quality and having had some many high-street equivalents in the past, I can honestly say it is worth the splurge !

Shoes:

  • Gianvito Rossi Plexi Pumps (similar)

I got this pair on sale (with over 50% off) after debating for a very long time if I should buy them or not. They are very flattering, I really like the colour combination, they are easy to look after and they make me feel very put together !

Ps. They look more uncomfortable than they are… I promise !

  • Gianvito Rossi Portofino Sandals (similar in suede)

There are no words to describe how much I love this pair… They are by far one the most comfortable shoes I have, being one of the most flattering at the same time. I would love to add another pair in different colour to my collection this year but only time will tell if that happens !

Another pair that win on the comfort front for me. They are not to everyone’s taste but I personally find them extremely easy to style, flattering and versatile so much so that you are probably fed up of seeing them on this blog !

Handbags:

I got this bag as a Christmas present back in 2016 nad although I had some initial problems with the strap and I ended up exchanging the original bag I know it was worth the effort. This bag is indestructible and perfect for work. I love everything about it and would recommend it without the slightest doubt.

This is without the slightest hesitation my most used bag of 2017. I bought it back in March and have been loving it ever since. It is perfect for day and night, the colour is very versatile but the biggest surprise for me was how comfortable the strap is ! Worth the investment and I will continue to use it in 2018 !

Clothing:

  • AllSaints Leather Jacket (similar)

This jacket is one of the best value for money items I got all year. I have managed to secure it with a massive 50% discount but to tell you the truth it is worth full price. The fit and the quality of the leather is exceptional. My only tip if you want to give it a go would be to downsize as like with all the leather items the jacket will stretch !

Denim shirt seems like a must in most closets and this one is an excellent choice. It is the best quality fabric and the fit is very flattering ! Every time I wear it, somebody will comment on how much they like it and I understand why…

I hope you have enjoyed my shortlist and I have inspired you to make your own… It really opens the eyes of what is worth spending your money on and what you can give it a miss !

I will be publishing a video, going in more details on why I have chosen the items I did so make sure you subscribe to my channel for more !

Thank you very much for stopping by !

September

September came and went like there was no tomorrow. I was a good month, but wish I celebrated and treasured every moment even more than I did as there was so many good ones…

The main focal point of September was our trip to Sri Lanka as well as our wedding anniversary. I tried to document as much as possible and I am planning on sharing more videos with you in the coming weeks. I did a lookbook this week on my YouTube channel showing what I have been wearing during our escape. Something new from me that I have not done ever before but putting it together gave me huge satisfaction and I hope you will like it too !!

Reflecting on my blog activity is always very interesting and this month came as a surprise to me. The post that you viewed and liked the most was What I wore Sunday… anniversary dinner followed closely by What I wore Sunday… afternoon in York.

The least popular was Sri Lanka safari which was one of my favourite posts to write and maybe something quite different and unexpected.

I have made one or two purchases lately and the one I would highly recommend is this denim shirt from Topshop. The quality is really good and it is such a versatile style that I am planning on styling over and over again !!

What I wore Sunday… one day in Sri Lanka

My love of traveling and discovering new and undiscovered is huge… As a result, once a year we try to go far away to the country we have not been to before. This year the country of choice is Sri Lanka. Full of contrasts, with difficult past, poverty mixing with luxury it is a very interesting place. Beautiful beaches, amazing wildlife within national parks, noisy streets and people who make this country are only few things definitely worth discovering… But more on that in the coming weeks !

For this very causal day, I went all white with a touch of black. I bought this beautiful dress, quite some time ago (on sale) but if felt too special for everyday use and I waited for the right time to wear it. The detail and the lace is on it, is truly special and I know it is timeless enough that I will be able to wear it in five or ten years time.

I pair it with my favourite pair of sandals and a Sensi Studio hat that you may have already seen here and here. These accessories are such a good quality items and in my opinion go with this outfit very well. Sir Lanka weather is hot and humid and the sun is very strong so wearing a hat is a must for me !

Without further delay that is what I wore Sunday (Sri Lanka style…) !

What I wore Sunday… day in Siena

As you may know I have spent the last week in Italy. It was a dream come true for me as I only visited Italy once in my life a very long time ago… I enjoyed every minute of my Italian adventure and I promise to share more of that on my blog in the coming weeks.

Today I am taking you to Siena which is the place I have not visited before but I would highly recommended. It has unbelievable charm and very relaxed vibe with the fan-shaped square Piazza del Campo in the middle of it all that offers spectacular views of this medieval town. Every corner is just picture perfect and every building is decorated with beautiful and colourful doors and shutters. Piazza del Campo itself is considered one of the greatest medieval squares in the whole Europe !

I am not going to lie it was a very hot day. That was one of the reason why I decided to wear white dress and a hat which was a pretty accessory but most importantly it protected me from the immense heat and sun. This dress seemed to me like a perfect choice for sightseeing. It is smart but very comfortable. I got it in Reiss in York Outlet about two years ago and I wore it the day after my wedding. It has a huge sentimental value for me so I hope you will like it too !!

Siena has so much charm and beauty that and I really hope that I will be able to go back there one day in the very near future.

Be my guest and enjoy this truly spectacular Italian city !!
