The idea for this post came to me when I popped to my local Zara for some last-minute shopping. As the sales are in full swing the amount of clothing everywhere really made me think… How much is too much and do we really need half of the things we buy ?
I am as guilty in the whole process as most of the population but maybe there is something we can do to stop wasting money, damage the environment and reduce the wastage so common in the fashion industry ?
I love shopping but I also like quality items and looking after my stuff. I would happily buy one thing that is going to last me ages that five that will get damage after first wash. The idea of throwing away things I bought with my hard-earned cash is something I cannot agree with… Also the amount of items we buy or we are made to feel we need to buy via social media is really overwhelming. We all need cloths and beauty products but the amount presented in those sources is insane…
I like to have different options available in my closet but I try not to lose my head in all this. So that is what my advice would be !
Look after your possessions, be proud of what you have and that will pay off !
When looking for a new item to add to your wardrobe think about the rest of the outfit, do you have something else to pair it with ?
Shop in your closet and recycle. One item can serve so may occasions… and some examples below…
I was waiting for some time to wear this dress. I remember when I first saw it less than a year ago I instantly knew it would make a good statement piece. I got in Zara in Bangkok and without the shadow of the doubt it was the most unusual souvenir I have ever got !
Gingham is big this season… When I looked for a similar dress to link to this post, I have realised that there are so many dresses available on the market for all types of budgets. It is a statement dress for me but I know that with appropriate accessories it can be dress up or down according to the occasion. If I was to advise on the one to go for, I would always go for the one with thicker fabric made out of natural materials available on the hight street. As it is quite a memorable piece, it is not worth in my opinion spending a fortune on with so many budget options available !
I did my research and as I like gingham so much I thought I will link some of my favourite gingham dresses available now… Zara, Topshop, slightly more pricy Cosor less known in UK Loft !
I am so happy summer is finally here and I can wear less layers and that somehow that gives me a courage to be more adventurous with my outfits… I hope to show you some more statement pieces in the coming weeks and be able to show them here !
Today I wanted to share with you day to-night outfit that will work (with few adjustments) for professional and more casual occasions. White blouse with beautiful lace detail plus fitted trousers (coated jeans in my case for slightly more edgy look) will take you from early morning to evening. As the temperature in the UK is still in low tens I had to add the coat… It is a staple I could not live without so much so that I have this coat in four slightly different styles and fabrics (one featured here).
The rest of the outfit is very simple. Bag that I had in my possession for over five years that is worth every penny I have paid for it. It works perfectly as a work and travel companion and I hope it will serve that purpose for many years to come. I have also added my favourite flats and classic sunglasses that I keep in my car for every eventuality.
What I like about the outfit I am showing you is its simplicity and versatility. Drop the jeans and add pencil skirt and the outfit will pass the test even in the most corporate of places. Change the coat for leather jacket and You can go out for the night out.
I am not a romantic person and my idea of the date night is staying at home and watching House of Cards with a cup of earl grey. However, from time to time it is nice to make an effort and dress in a more feminine way. I had a pleasure of staying overnight in Lincoln this weekend as a part of a treasure hunt (I will keep You updated on that..) and we decided to spend the evening in town.
I tried to keep my romantic spirit going by putting on this dress but wanted to add a twist with a military style coat. The dress is my newest purchase from Topshop– very delicate piece that will see You through the wedding season as well as those special occasions date nights.. The coat is a real treasure from Zara that looks like a million dollars, worth every penny I paid for it..
My shoes and handbag have been staple pieces in my wardrobe for some time. I got my handbag as a wedding gift from my awesome husband and shoes were the sale purchase. By creating this look I wanted to prove that high street has as much to offer as designers. The pieces can be equally beautiful and well-made. What matters is the quality of the material and how versatile they are.
I hope You will like what I put together.. please let me know !!
